The fourth (and fifth when applicable) Sundays of each month, we have been going to a nursing home and just fellowshipping with the people, singing some hymns with them, and even spending some time praying with them. Robert and Linda Galambos have been doing this on their own for years and we decided to join them!
About the residents: most of them are NOT old, they are middle aged and have a variety of disabilities, mostly mental health issues and brain injuries. Most of the them are verbal and communicate pretty well. Many sing with us too! It helps encourage them to sing more when we are there next to them. Volunteers are needed to turn pages in the song books, just sit next to them, and give them some attention.
Two options for getting there- you can either meet at the church at 9am, or meet us at the nursing home. We will arrive there about 9:15am, and start singing at 9:30, share a scripture or two, and then have a time of prayer, fellowship, and donuts from 10- 10:15, and then we will all make it back over to Carr St. just in time for church!
