Young Missionaries

Today I wanted to share the full stories of Benjamin and Bridget-- the brave kids that put up with us old folks on the trip.

Stephanie, Benjamin and Jeremy Praying over a woman at the church we attended
I think one of the coolest things that happened on this mission trip to Nuevo Laredo was how God worked through us. He used ordinary people to bring people to Him, heal people, and so much more. At the church service on Sunday me, Jeremy, and Stephanie, one of the translators, prayed for a woman who had tumors in her stomach. The tumors were causing her back pain. We prayed for her and she was healed! When I prayed for people to be healed, I prayed expectantly. I said, "God, I know you can and will heal this person. I thank you in advance." If you believe that God will do what you're asking, He will! God wants us to have faith that He will do what you're asking.
Each day, we woke up, had breakfast, then did devotions. On one of the days, Donna, the wife of the guy who started VCH, did devos. She talked about hell. It's not a fun subject, but it's a real one. Right now, about 5 billion people are going there. After that devotion, the mission trip had a new meaning to me. Everyone I saw I wanted to reach. I wanted to tell them the Good News of Jesus Christ.
God can use ordinary people like you and me to reach the lost.

Now that is a preacher in the making if I have ever heard one! ;-)

Here is Bridget's story:

Jeremy, Bridget, Juan (in the blue), and Diego (in the red)

Hi, my name is Bridget and I want to tell you about our second day in Mexico. In the morning, we went to an orphanage. When we got there, it just broke my heart seeing all the children with no parents. After we did the dramas, we started talking to the kids. Jeremy started talking to a boy named Juan. I walked over and he asked me what my name was. I told him, "my name is Bridget," but definitely not in English. I said, "me llamo Bridget," but he didn't understand, so he asked me again and again and finally he understood me! I walked away and sat down, and a few minutes later he came up to me and said "hello" in English. I was kind of confused how he learned to say it, but I just said "hello" back. Afterwards, I heard that it was Jeremy who taught him how to say it! Every time I looked at Juan, he made me smile and it gave me joy in my heart! Everyone did the last drama, and while they were doing it I started crying because I knew we were about to leave and I didn't want to leave them there because I knew I wouldn't see them again, at least not for a long time. Juan came up to me and shook my hand, and wanted to take a picture. I wanted to take him home with me! When we got in the van, I knew he had to stay there, but I know I am for sure going back next year.
I had a really good experience for my first mission trip. I made a lot of new friends that I will never forget. We played games and danced and I miss them already. We got to do a lot of ministry with the children where we did obstacle courses with them, played games, danced and prayed with them. At one of the colonias, a little girl came up to me and asked me to pray for her. I want to encourage kids that are my age (9) or older to think about going on a missions trip, because it really has an effect on your life, and God really moves through you and changes your life.

Wow. I hope you are blessed by two of the many stories from two amazing kids. They had the opportunity to see God move in ways many have not! Gloria a Dios!

Tomorrow, we will continue to share mores stories like this.
