28 Days until Mexico!!!
Today I wanted to talk about the Sword of the Spirit. In the past, I have normally thought of the sword as being the complete Word of God, the Bible itself. The book I was reading took a different approach on it than I had read. It was talking how when the text says "... the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." The term "word"describes something spoken in unmistakable, unquestionable, certain and definite terms.
This word is also the same one use when speaking of receiving a "word from the Lord," which is where the Holy Spirit supernaturally comes to you to impart special power or direction to that believer.
The Holy Spirit may quicken a verse in your heart at a specific time for a specific reason. This may be something you have never experienced, but it is one that when you do, it will be hard to ignore. When this happens, the author claims God is putting a supernatural sword in your hand to fight of the enemy!
I kind of like a hybrid of the two ideas: the sword is the Bible itself, but when the Holy Spirit imparts knowledge to you of a specific verse, that is like lighting the sword on fire! It doesn't matter how dark your situation is, these words will light your way and destroy the darkness that stands before you.
One key bit of information the author shares is that people who seem like they receive these words supernaturally from the Holy Spirit are also those who have made the Word a central part of their lives! So let's dive into the word, and seek more of God, then the enemy will be the one who leaves the scene defeated and demoralized while you keep moving forward, walking victoriously in the light of God's Word!
