Mission

At Faith Bible Chapel- we exist to share the love of God and be the light of the world. >>OUR PURPOSE

3 Days... Testimony

The devil wants to use your past against you. What in your past do you look back on in shame? What is lurking in the shadows that you keep hidden from the world? Maybe it is something you have done, an experience you have had, or maybe it is even something that has been done to you.

Let us only use our past to proclaim the glory of God and the despair he has brought us from! Do not let the devil use your past against you! You were born again! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come." Proclaim to the world that you were lost and now you are found. That you were a sinner and now  you are a sinner saved by grace. Unless you have it all together, don't be afraid to share your current struggles too- as I know, no matter how long you have been a Christian, you are still in need of daily grace!

1 Peter 3:15-16 says "...Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, but do this with gentleness and respect..." (Don't forget that last part either!)

One of the easiest ways to write out your testimony is to start with the following:

I was __________________ now I am ___________________.

I could write out a dozen of those for myself alone. One that is especially true for me is the following:

I was a pharisee, not truly seeing my need for grace. Now I am a sinner who knows he is saved by the grace of Jesus Christ alone.

From that simple starting point, you can expand as much or as little as you want. For example:

I grew up in Christian home, but the idea of grace didn't really click for me for a long time. I was too caught up trying to be good, not cuss or drink or watch rated R movies. I thought this was what being a Christian was about, not realizing that no matter the deed, no matter what I did or didn't do, I was still in desperate need of the grace of my Savior, Jesus Christ. All fall short of the glory of God, and we need Him there to bring us up to our place with Him.

Just remember that your testimony is to point back to God. It is designed to tell a glimpse of the many reasons you are choosing to serve him today, and it might just cause someone else to begin to look at God a little differently, and potentially allow Him to change their life too!

It is no always comfortable to open yourself up like this, but we just need to be sensitive to the Spirit's leading of when to share and what to share. People can sense when you are being genuine, and showing vulnerable is easily apparent to most, and shows a tremendous amount of love.
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything
and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.
If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you
must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it
carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid
all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or
coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe,
dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be
broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable,
irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
-C.S. Lewis
Your testimony could also be something like THIS. Click here for a testimony of when I was healed in El Salvador in 2012.

You can also check out a ton of amazing video testimonies of people here: IAMSECOND.COM

Tomorrow I will share another testimony of one of the harder things I have gone through in my life that has shaped me. Thanks for reading along and thanks for praying for our Mission Team that leaves Wednesday, June 3!!!
