33 Days...The Shield of Faith

The next piece of armor I wanted to talk about is the shield of faith. When we talk about faith here, we are talking about a Faith in Jesus and nothing else. Not our savings account. Not our good works. Not our own skills or giftings.

The shield of faith is our way to prevent the attacks of the devil from ever getting near the rest of our armor. According to the book I was reading, the shield was made of several layers of leather tightly woven together and then framed along the edges by a strong piece of metal, and not typically all metal like most of us probably think of. This leather had to be treated and cared for, otherwise it would become hard and brittle, crack upon impact. If the Roman soldier wanted to live a long life, it was imperative that he take of the shield and regularly apply the oil to his shield every day of his military career.

Translating this to our analogy of Faith, I think our faith requires the consistent anointing of the Holy Spirit.  Without the touch of the Holy Spirit, our faith will become brittle when under attack.
Location is key in how we yield our shield and our faith. We need it out in front of us. Perhaps you have felt the stab if the enemies arrows in the past because you had your shield lowered. The devil knows that the mind is the strategic control center of your life. If he can seize your mind, he can then begin to wage warfare against the other parts if our being.

With proper usage and care, the shield of faith is a powerful weapon that can keep us from being effected by any attacks that come our way! Remember that faith is something we can look to for God to supply us! Hebrews 12:2 says Jesus is the Author and Perfector of our faith.
