From Jenn:
The past several years Carr St has gone to Nuevo Laredo and I have not felt the calling to
go. Well this year was different. I felt like I should be going on a missions trip and right until
we started I was struggling with the fact if I should go or not. I wanted to make sure that I was
going because I was supposed to go and not just because I wanted to go on a missions trip.
Well I decided to go and I’m so glad I did. This trip was an awesome experience in different ways. I
felt a presence of love and family at the Bible institute with all of the staff and the Mexicans who
would go to our ministry sites with us. They were such a joy to be around and I could tell they
loved Jesus and others. As a follower of Christ and one who loves missions I really enjoyed
being able to share with the kids from the schools and the people in the colonias the love of Jesus
through dance, dramas, and prayer. My heart’s desire is to see people come to know the Lord
and feel his love, and through this trip I felt that the people we came in contact with did. It was
such a blessing to see many souls saved and to hear about people who were healed.
As many of you know I’m passionate about Operation Christmas Child. Well when Gino
made the announcement and asked if anyone wanted to go to Lemuel and Steffiy’s church I was
like no in my mind because I was tired and wanted to rest. Well I noticed my husband Mike
going toward the van to go so what did I do I followed him and got in the van. We get to the
church and they show us how they just painted the wall with an awesome drawing with a side
profile of a lion and an anchor on it. The name of the place is Anchor of Hope. It was a great
painting. After looking at the cool painting they opened up the door for us to go in well I was
standing either in the doorway or right near it and I glance over and what do I see? I see The
Greatest Journey booklets which is the discipleship program Operation Christmas Child does
where children once they receive their gift filled shoebox are able to go through. Therefore, I ask
did you guys receive shoeboxes and they said they did. I even got to see some of the leftover
items in cartons that they didn’t give out, which they told us they use with the children who come
there. The children who come to their ministry are children whose parents are part of the Cartel.
Therefore when I heard some of the stories of these children. It was a blessing to hear and see
for myself how a ministry I volunteer with all the time is being used and changing lives on the
other side in another country. I felt blessed by God that he would allow me to see and experience
it.
Besides the highlight I just shared with you there were a couple of times I really felt the
Holy Spirit moving and that I was really in his presence. Those were great as well. I believe this
trip was a life-changing trip for me. I believe my faith grew. God was glorified and I’m thankful
I went. I’m forever changed and I miss the people in Mexico that we met and I’m glad I’ve met
more brothers and sisters in Christ. If the Lord Wills I would like to go again.
