We just got done talking about the different pieces of the armor of God- but where do we get these pieces? I know sometimes I am guilty of trying to piece together my own armor out of my works, and end up looking something like this:
Now this is just an image I found on the internet, but it clearly displays how ill-equipped I am for battle when I try to do it myself. Remember, the text says, "Put on the whole armor that comes from God..." We must remain in fellowship with our creator otherwise our armor becomes useless. He is the power source and He gives us our battle orders too! Without Him we would all just be running aimlessly!
I know I have found myself feeling lost. I have let other things become my priority instead of God, and then I wonder why I don't feel empowered or connected to Him. I thank God that He is always patiently waiting for us to come back, and often even works in our lives in spite of ourselves!
When we put our spiritual lives temporarily "on hold," we are hanging up our armor and opening ourselves up to the attacks of the devil. So today, take some time and thank God for each piece of armor He has supplied, and "put on the full armor of God so you can withstand the attacks of the devil." Put on the pieces He gave you and you will look something more like this:
