Right after the text regarding the armor of God, we see this verse:
Many like to include this verse when talking about the armor, and assign it a name as the last of the weaponry- calling it the Lance of Prayer and Supplication, even though that name is not given in scripture. The lance for the roman soldier was a very useful weapon, hurled at the enemy while he was still at a distance, keeping him from every having to unsheathe his sword. It is neat to view prayer like this. By hurling this weapon into the face of the enemy, you exercise the power God has given you to stop major obstacles before they even get close enough to attack you or knock you off course! Prayer is an important part of our spiritual arsenal, and we need to learn how to use it continually and habitually- at every possible moment! If you don't know any Bible verses, remember this one- "Pray constantly" -1 Thessalonians 5:17
Just like there were many types of lances, there are also many types of prayers: prayers of consecration, petition, authority, thanksgiving, supplication, and intercession just to name a few.
Our mission team has been praying. We are praying for God to prepare the way for us. To start to soften the hearts that have become hardened. We are praying for spiritual protection for each of the team members, as we know the enemy does not want us to go- not only because it could change the lives of people in Mexico- but because the people going could come back changed, they could come back with a boldness to take the fight to our native soil and break down the strongholds the devil has been building here!
We hope that you will take some time in the coming month to pray for us! We thank you ahead of time for aiding us in battle this way.
