Teresa's Experience

Today's post is Teresa's Story:

Teresa in Bondage
This is my second year on this mission trip, and this year was more amazing than the last one. This trip is definitely the most spiritual fun you can have here on this earth. It stretches you physically in a big way but it is so worth it.

Jeremy asked us to read the book of acts before we went and now I can see why. This is how they live day in and day out. We go down there for a week and we are forever changed. I can only imagine what would happen if we just let go and let God do what ever he wants with us on a daily basis.

This organization is good soil they eat breath and drink souls for Jesus. They are a good example of what the the first church looked like. One example of that is: We went to the Orphanage one morning and there was a young lady that had only been there for a few days. Her name was Alecia. A few of us were drawn to her, her face was hard and empty. We could tell she was broken. Brisa one of the beautiful students we met last year, went to her and listened to her story. Her Dad had abused her and always told her she was ugly and no good for nothing. Brisa had a ring on her left hand she wore to show she was married to Jesus. A custom most of the young women have. After she prayed with Alecia for quite some time, she took that ring off her finger and put it on Alecia's hand. She told her I feel like God wants you to have this every time you look at it I want you to think about how much your NEW DAD loves you. You are beautiful and special in his sight. He will be there for you. It seemed to almost make her smile. Brisa just held her and loved her for a long time.

Later I told Brisa what she did really touched my hear. That is when she told me her dad gave her that ring when she was a little girl and it meant a lot to her. But when she was praying for Alecia she felt God tell her to give it to her. She argued at first with God because the ring was so special. But she felt peace when she put it on Alicia hand.

Its that kind of love that Jesus wants us to have for everyone. That is how the world will recognize us when we have that kind of love for humanity. When hard time or tragedy strikes that is our open door to speak to the world through love. Brisa may never find out what that single act of kindness did for Aliecia, but I am pretty sure it will they will both be forever changed as a result.
